If it makes you feel any better, I just got back from Houston, and this is how things went. Day 1: sitting on a flight from chicago (my cross over) to houston, the plane hasn't taken off yet, but everyone's on the flight. We got delayed about 15-20 mins or so. I get a text from my co-worker: "Hey Rob, sorry, but I can't pick you up from the airport.... We're getting hit by a hurricane at the moment". ... Well, that sounds like fun. And I'm flying in? Really! I found out later that it had downgraded to a tropical storm, but, still slightly disconcerting while sitting on the airplane. Once the storm subsided two days later, I got to experience typical houston august weather. 45oC + a rather brutal bit of humidity. Thank goodness for air conditioning! /mutter.
